How to play paintball
Paintball is a game that is played with a variety of different game types. The most common game types are capture the flag and elimination. Capture the flag involves two teams trying to get their opponent’s flag and bring it back to their own base. In elimination, there are several rounds in which each team tries to eliminate all players on the other team before time runs out.
Capture the flag
Capture the Flag is a team-based game in which two teams compete to capture their opponent’s flag and return it to their own base. It is called Capture the Flag because both teams have a flag that they protect while trying to capture the other team’s flag. Capture The Flag games are often played outdoors, with each team having a designated base. The bases are typically marked by flags or banners, which can be any color or shape (and sometimes even props). The goal of Capture The Flag is simple: You and your teammates must steal your enemy’s flag while protecting your own!
Center flag
Center flag is similar to capture the flag except there is only one flag in the center of the field. A team wins the game by capturing the flag and returning it to their base or sometimes by running it to the enemies base.
Elimination
Elimination is a game in which players are eliminated from the game as they are hit by a paintball. If you’re eliminated, you must leave the field and sit out until your team wins or loses by having the last remaining player alive.
Attack and defend
Attack and defend is a game type where one team is given a designated base that they must defend from incoming attackers. The other teams objective is to attack the enemies base and reach an objective, often a flag, inside to win the game.
What you need to play paintball
When you’re ready to play paintball, there are a few things that you’ll need. You’ll need a paintball gun (also called a paintball marker), as well as protective gear like masks or goggles.
Paintball gun
Paintball guns come in many varities including mechanical, elctronic, and even pump. Mechanical paintball guns are typically the most reliable because of their simple mechanics, they are also usually cheaper. Electronic paintball markers use sensors or microswitches to shoot, this increases your fire rate even further by reducing the amount of force needed to pull the trigger. Pump markers are the least common and shoot the slowest, as they require you to pump the gun between each shot, but they are very fun to use and allow you to demonstrate your real skill.
Paintball mask
Masks are the next most important piece of equipment because they protect your face from hits when someone shoots at you. When choosing a mask you should take into the amount of protection they provide, some will cover just your face while others cover your entire head front to back. You should also consider the lenses it uses. Dual-pane lense are less likely to fog up during heavy breating, and thermal and mirrored lenses are will help block sunlight. It is very important to ensure your mask has the proper safety rating to withstand the impact from paintballs.
Paintball hopper
Hoppers are the reservoir of paintballs attached to your paintball gun, similar to magazines or clips for a normal gun. These hoppers can either be gravity fed or use an electronic motor to force feed paintballs into your gun. Hoppers typically hold around 200 paintballs giving you plenty of ammunition to last through your battle.
HPA/Co2 tank
Paintballs markers utilize HPA or Co2 to propel they paintballs out of the barrel. You will need to purchase a HPA or Co2 tank that you can attach to your paintball gun and fill it up prior to playing. HPA is the newer option and most paintball fields have moved away from Co2 entirely. Generally, the larger the tank you get the more air it can hold and the more shots you can get out of it, however the weight increases as well.
Conclusion
Paintball is a fun and exciting sport that can be enjoyed by everyone. Whether you’re looking to have an active day out with friends or family or are looking for something new to do as a group activity, paintball is a great choice!
